Pulling the plug on my newsletter05 Jul 2016 | by Scott Nesbitt
I’ve been pulling the plug on quite a few things in the last month. Maybe because I turned 49 recently, decided to do a bit of decluttering — both physical and digital.
As part of that process, I’m pulling the plug on News From Somewhere, my (soon-to-be-formerly) bi-weekly newsletter. The last edition of the newsletter will land in various inboxes on July 11, 2016.
It was a tough decision. I’ve enjoyed writing essays for the newsletter over the last year or so. But some problems related to the newsletter have reared their head, and I have neither the time nor energy to deal with them.
On top of that, while I have a decent number of subscribers (a big thank you to each of you!), that number isn’t enough to sustain the newsletter. I’ve considered offering News from Somewhere as a paid subscription, but I’m not sure that enough people would fork out even a few dollars a month to read what I have to say every two weeks.
Publishing News from Somewhere since June, 2015 has been an interesting experiment. That experiment helped me work through a crisis in confidence in my writing. It helped me grow as a writer. Now, it’s time to move on.
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to News From Somewhere. I appreciated your support!Thoughts? Let's start a conversation on Twitter.
